Dear WHS Community,

I hope that you have had a great Thanksgiving and were able to relax and catch up with friends and family.  The Kelleys were definitely in holiday mode with a wonderful Thanksgiving feast for our extended family cooked by my husband and master chef, Tim.  I hope that you had a great time with your crew.  On Thanksgiving, I was so proud of our team, band and cheerleaders at our annual game.  It was a wonderful event (my first ever) and even though we didn’t win, it was a close and exciting game.  I was also thrilled to be a part of our Spirit week!

Monday Updates:

  1. Once again this year, WHS will be participating in WHS Gives Back.

Last year, we were able to raise funds to help local families with gifts this holiday season.  We are already looking to collect money in homerooms from now until early December.  Thank you in advance for your donations.

  1. Congratulations to 2014 Technovation Challenge finalists Team Lark-Qiuyue Liu and Rosanna Zhang who have been working on an APP for The Winchester Coalition.  They will be featured in an article this week for the Star.  The APP is now available for free from itunes-just go to Winchester 01890 or use these links:

  1. Kudos to our PE and Wellness department (Jason Cacciapuoti and Andria Bremhorst) who offered our RAD students a 3 hour follow-up to get certified.  We are so appreciative of the Coalition who helped bring the RAD program to our Wellness Department and to Sgt. Perenick and other members of WPD who supported our efforts.

  1. Thank you to student, Meghan Cronin who took some beautiful new photos of our new spaces and to Mrs. Kathy Grace, Director of Technology, who put together a collection of Megan’s shots.  Take a look at:  http://www.edline.net/pages/Winchester_High_School

Memo Shout Outs:

We have so much to be proud of here at WHS.  I have asked our staff to send me regular shout out announcements so we can recognize some of our great happenings for our WHS community.
(If you have a shout out to share-please email me at ckelley@winchesterps.org)

  • Congratulations to students who were accepted into Senior Districts 2016!
Senior Districts is a regional honor choir, band, and orchestra that students can audition for. Nearly 1100 students audition for these groups, but only 400 are accepted.
Winchester is sending 35 students to Senior Districts! We are very proud of you!
Additionally, if students receive a high enough rating, they can qualify for All-States. Winchester is proud to say that we have 24 students that received a high enough rating and can audition for all-states.
Good luck at your audition in January!

  • Thank you to members of our staff (and students) who presented at our Annual District-Wide Technology Night:

  • Dave Benedetto presented Data Collection with Vernier Probeware in the Chemistry Laboratory assisted by seniors Damian Barabonkov, Chistopher Kuang, Thomas Dougherty, Oliver George and Nina Tchirkova and juniors Katherine Deng, Winnie Li, and Isabel Paine.
